Why Foundation sits within FabUX

AI works better when it starts with user needs.

AI increasingly shapes brands, services, customer and employee touchpoints, decisions and everyday delivery. Automation can increase speed and scale, but it can also scale poor assumptions. Foundation applies user-centred principles so AI-enabled work remains useful, understandable and accountable.

What we mean by AI

Tools that generate, interpret, recommend or act using learned patterns.

This includes standalone assistants and AI features built into familiar services such as Canva, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace or LinkedIn. It can help create, rewrite, summarise, classify, analyse or automate work. Foundation focuses on uses that shape work, decisions or experiences, rather than treating every piece of conventional automation as AI.

A useful AI Use Policy answers four everyday questions.

These are the questions people ask before using AI at work. The policy gives them clear answers and shows where human judgement still matters.

01 · Permission

Can I?

People need useful boundaries they can recognise in the moment, not a policy they remember too late.

02 · Relevance

Should I?

Availability is not suitability. Good practice includes knowing when the tool adds value and when it gets in the way.

03 · Judgement

Is this good enough?

Confidence comes from evidence, context and skilled review, not the fluency of an answer.

04 · Ownership

Can we stand behind it?

The organisation owns the decision, the experience it creates and what happens next.

Four connected Foundation resources

Set the rules, put them into practice, check work before it matters and protect information and rights. The resources work together, but can also be used individually where appropriate.

Two ways to begin

Use it yourself.Bring us in where it helps.

Self-guided: everything here is designed to be useful without hiring FabUX. Read the documents, adapt them with your team and use the implementation playbook to move from policy to everyday practice.

Supported: FabUX can help you move faster, test the approach with the people who must use it and bring an independent perspective to difficult decisions. Our experience in user research, service design and brand helps align policy, tools and real behaviour, while bringing the creativity and emotional understanding that makes the approach clear, engaging and recognisably yours.
