Foundation by FabUX. Give people permission to do brilliant work.

The Foundation approach

Put people at the centre of AI-enabled work.

AI is increasingly embedded in how organisations shape their brand, design customer and employee experiences, build and deliver services, automate work and decide what to improve next.

The technology may change quickly. The need to understand people does not. Foundation applies user-centred principles so AI-enabled work remains useful, trusted and accountable.

What Foundation is

Foundation is a practical organisational starting point for using AI with clarity, accountability and confidence.

It applies user-centred principles to the policies, tools, decisions and operational systems surrounding AI. The aim is to keep real needs, human judgement and responsibility present as AI becomes part of everyday work.

AI is part of the experience

AI is no longer confined to specialist tools or isolated automation projects. It influences how organisations communicate, how services respond, how employees work, how customers receive support and how decisions are made.

It increasingly shapes brand and communication, customer and employee touchpoints, products and services, content and information, research and decision-making, operational delivery, and how organisations learn and improve. Together, those uses shape how people experience and understand an organisation. They affect whether people understand it, trust it and can successfully act.

User-centred principles matter more, not less

Automation increases scale and speed. It can also scale poor assumptions, inaccessible experiences and unclear accountability.

Foundation helps teams keep real user needs, human judgement, accessibility, transparency and responsibility present as AI becomes part of everyday work.

How the Foundation resources work together

The four resources form a connected sequence. They can also be used individually where that is the right starting point.

  1. 1. Set the rulesAI Use Policy
  2. 2. Put them into practiceImplementation playbook
  3. 3. Check work before it mattersHuman review and approval
  4. 4. Protect information and rightsPrivacy and intellectual property

Build, deliver and evolve

  1. Build around real needs

Understand the people, context, risks and intended outcome before choosing where AI belongs.

  2. Deliver with clear responsibility

Make review, approval, transparency and routes for human support part of the experience.

  3. Evolve through evidence

Observe how people actually use the experience, identify unintended effects and improve the policy, tools and service over time.

Use it yourself. Bring us in where it helps.

The Foundation materials can be used freely without hiring FabUX. Read them, adapt them with your team and use them to create a clear route from policy to everyday practice.

FabUX can help organisations adapt the resources to their context, understand employee and customer needs, test whether guidance is understood, design AI-enabled touchpoints and services, build review and accountability into delivery, and learn from real use as the approach evolves.

How Foundation fits with FabUX

Foundation applies FabUX’s user-centred principles to emerging technology: understand behaviour and decision-making, design for customer and employee experiences, make accessibility and transparency practical, and use brand to communicate with restraint, confidence and care.

It connects the human work of research, judgement and service design with the systems that increasingly shape organisational experiences.

What Foundation is not

Foundation is a practical organisational starting point. It is not legal advice, certification, regulatory approval or a guarantee of compliance. It should be adapted, reviewed and approved through the organisation’s normal governance process.
